The Aspirations Club runs on Sundays between 9.30am and 1.30pm in Wimbledon. The club is for young people with a learning disability between the ages of 12 and 18.
The purpose the club is to support young people with a learning disability to participate in community activities, encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and develop their independent living skills. Activities at the club include training in food hygiene, travel training and learning how to keep safe in the community. Sports and leisure activities are also on offer and are chosen by the young people attending the club, these have included sports day in the local park, trips to London to visit museums, graffiti art and drumming workshops, shopping and lunch out. The key is that the young people at the club have a say about which activities are provided during club sessions.
The club also includes the preparation of a healthy lunch which is then eaten together.
If you know a young person with a learning disability who would like to join the club, or would like more information, please contact our Projects Manager (Young People & Adults) Melinda Hutchinson, on 020 3669 1832 or email.
